Director, Policy and Advocacy

Biography

I serve as Director, Policy and Advocacy at the Internet Society. I lead the organization's engagement on connectivity policy and the regulatory and governance frameworks that shape who can access the Internet and on what terms. I represent the organization in United Nations processes and other multilateral forums, advocating for policies that preserve the Internet's open, multistakeholder, and interoperable nature against fragmentation.

Drawing on expertise in the Asia-Pacific region, I monitor and respond to emerging threats to the global nature of the Internet — from data localization mandates and network shutdowns to efforts that would splinter the Internet along national or political lines. My work spans technical policy, Internet governance, and cross-border connectivity, bridging the gap between technical communities and policymakers at the regional and international levels.

My path to policy began in journalism. I was a business and technology journalist with the South China Morning Post, based in Hong Kong and Beijing. I have held roles at the Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC), Microsoft, and Huawei. I hold a Master's in Public Policy from the Lee Kuan Yew School of Public Policy at the National University of Singapore, with a specialization in economic policy and analysis.

I am based in Singapore.
