ISOC at World Economic Forum Annual Meeting of New Champions 2010
Rajnesh Singh, Internet Society’s Regional Head for Asia, was invited to participate in the World Economic Forum’s Annual Meeting of New Champions 2010 in Tianjin, China. Referred to as the “Summer Davos”, the meeting is the foremost global business gathering in Asia and was introduced in 2007. The annual meeting is held in close collaboration with the People’s Republic of China and with the personal support of Premier Wen Jiabao.
The meeting theme “Driving Growth through Sustainability” explored issues fundamental for global, national and business competitiveness, under four main pillars:
· Improving Competitiveness through Science and Technology
· Creating New Value from Business Models and for Future Markets
· Facilitating Economic and Social Change
· Designing Effective Global, Industry and Regional Solutions
Singh was a panelist in a session titled “Maximising Cloud Computing” where he provided commentary on some current issues with cloud computing and suggested some approaches which could help build user confidence in the cloud. Singh was also part of a private session on ICT and Eco-sustainability.
The Meeting brought together over 1,500 industry, government and thought leaders from around 90 countries and provided a good opportunity to profile the Internet Society and its work across a range of stakeholders.
