Rajnesh Singh, Regional Bureau Manager for Asia, visited Colombo, Sri Lanka at the invitation of the ICT Agency of Sri Lanka (ICTA), the apex ICT body in the country. ICTA is a government agency, and co-ordinates ICT initiatives in the country.
Singh was invited to speak at the .LK 20th Year Anniversary event and spoke on ISOC’s role in the development of the Internet. The event also saw the launch of the first global IDN TLDs – in Sinhala and Tamil – another milestone for Sri Lanka that puts it at the leading edge of IDN deployment.
During his visit, Singh met with senior government, private sector and academic officials, as well as the Sri Lankan Minister for Science and Technology.
Earlier in the week, Singh provided an update on ISOC activities at an APTLD (Asia Pacific Top Level Domain Association) meeting which was also held in Colombo.

The India Kolkata Chapter of the Internet Society held a very successful seminar on IPv6 at DPSC Auditorium, Salt Lake, Kolkata titled “IPv6 – Current State and Way Forward”.
Rajnesh Singh, ISOC’s Regional Bureau Manager for Asia, spoke in the inaugural session and the seminar included speakers from NASSCOM, STPI (Software Technology Parks of India), ITC and APNIC.

The World Telecom Development Conference 2010 (WTDC 10) was held in Hyderabad, India from May 24 to June 4. This was an ITU-D event and hosted by Department of Telecommunications, Government of India.
ISOC staff at WTDC 10 included Bill Graham, Rajnesh Singh and Karen Rose.
