Rajnesh Singh, Regional Bureau Manager for Asia, was invited to keynote at eNortheast 2010, held in Guwahati, Northeast India. The region suffers from a lack of infrastructure and the Indian Government has been allocating significant resources to develop the region.
The eNortheast 2010 conference was established to provide a multi-stakeholder forum to discuss issues affecting the region and to explore ways forward. Singh’s presentation focused on open Internet policies and how that can contribute to economic development. He also moderated a panel session on “Governance & Public Service Delivery: Effective Deployment of ICT and Internet Technology”.
The event was well organised, and provided some interesting perspectives on projects in areas with poor infrastructure and associated issues. More information on the event is available here.

Rajnesh Singh, Regional Bureau Manager for Asia, held an information session on ISOC in Hyderabad, India. The session was kindly hosted by Beam Telecom, a multi-service provider in Hyderabad.
Singh spoke on ISOC and its activities and explained opportunities for engagement with ISOC including chapter formation and fellowships.

Rajnesh Singh, Regional Bureau Manager for Asia, visited the ISOC Chennai India Chapter, and spoke at a seminar on the topic of open Internet policies. A highly interactive discussion ensued after the seminar with chapter members, and covered various issues in and around the Internet in India.
